Institute of Sport Exercise & Health: Update
The Institute of Sport Exercise and Health (ISEH) is one of three locations forming the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), a major legacy project of the 2012 London Olympic Games. A £10 million investment by the Department of Health has resulted in a dedicated state-of-the-art facility in the centre of London.
Since our official opening by Lord Coe in June 2013 ISEH has steadily grown in activity and developed to bring together leading clinicians in sport and exercise medicine. Our multidisciplinary team of experts now includes specialists in sports podiatry, psychology and cardiology as well as a number of orthopaedic surgeons who work alongside our sports physicians.
In addition to their practices at the Institute, our consultants provide medical care to a wide variety of local, national and international teams and sports including The London Marathon, the Leicester Tigers and Saracens Rugby. Another of our consultants, Dr Mike Loosemore, is the Chief Medical Officer for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
In the last 13 months over 2500 private patients have attended the ISEH for physiotherapy, diagnostic tests, interventional radiology and Consultations. Our team have seen over 5000 UCLH patients at our twice weekly NHS clinics.
Our Multidisciplinary Team includes:
• Orthopaedic Surgeons
• Sports Physicians
• General Surgeons
